Data warehouse

 hi everyone...

DATA WAREHOUSE..???what in ur mind right now..???

i will explain at u all about data warehouse k. Data warehouse extend the transformation of data into information. In the 1990's executives become less concerned with business operations and more concerned with overall business function.

Data Warehouse means a logical collection of information - gathered from many different operational database - that supports business analysis activities and decision - making tasks.

Extraction, transformation and loading ( ETL ) : a process that extracts information from internal and external databases, transforms the information using a common set of enterprise definitions, and loads the information into a data warehouse.

Data mart : contains a subset of data warehouse information.

Example of DATA WAREHOUSE MODEL :

CUBE means common term for the representation of multidimensional information.

          Information Cleansing or Scrubbing.

A process that weeds out and fixes or discards inconsistent,   incorrect or incomplete information.

storing organizational information - database

assalamualikum everyone...

for this chapter i would like to share with u all about database... =)
everyone know that information is everywhere in an organization..

DATABASE : maintains information about various types of objects (inventory), events   (transactions), people (employees) and places (warehouse)

DATABASE models include :

1. Hierachical database model :

2. Network database model :

3. Relational database model :

Entity        : a person, place, things, transaction about which information is stored.

Attributes  : characteristics or properties of an entity class.

Primary key and foreign keys identify the various entity classes in the database.

A database must scale to meet increased demand, while maintaining acceptable performance levels.
Database reduces information REDUNDANCY. Redundancy means the duplication of information or storing the same information in multiple places.

exploring business intelligence

Information is everywhere is an organization. Employees must be able to obtain n analyze the many different levels, formats and granularities of organizational information to make decisions.
Successfully collecting, compiling, sorting n analyzing information can provide TREMEDEOUS insight into how an organization is performing.

Transactional information verses analytical information

     THE VALUE OF TIMELY INFORMATION

Timeliness has two situation that is real - time information means immediate, up-to-date information and real-time-system means provides real-time information in response to query requests.

Business decisions are only as good as the quality of he information used to make decisions.

We never want to find our self using technology to help us make a bad decision faster.

Beside that, good of information also has benefit that is :

High quality information can significantly improve the chances of making a good    decision.

Good decisions can directly impact an organization's bottom line.
